Democracy: A Journey From Ancient Athens to Today


 

 

The idea of democracy, where power rests with the people, has a long and fascinating history. It's not a static concept, but rather a journey that has unfolded over centuries, shaped by different cultures and thinkers.

 

The seeds of democracy were sown in ancient Athens, where citizens participated in decision-making through assemblies and voting. While not a perfect democracy, it was a groundbreaking system for its time. Later, the Roman Republic, though not fully democratic, incorporated elements of representation and elected officials.

 

The Enlightenment era saw a resurgence of democratic ideals, with thinkers like John Locke advocating for natural rights and limited government. His ideas influenced the American and French Revolutions, which sought to establish governments based on the consent of the governed.

 

In the modern era, democracy has continued to evolve, with the expansion of suffrage and the development of social welfare systems. However, challenges remain, including populism, inequality, and misinformation.

 

Democracy is a dynamic and ever-evolving concept. Understanding its history helps us appreciate its strengths and challenges, and to navigate the complexities of the modern world.

  indomie.com Supermi Desember 1968 dengan Eka Wijaya & Sjarif Jadil dibantu oleh pemegang saham utama, Sankyo Shokuhin , akhirnya  PT Limasatu Sankyo Industri Pangan didirikan. Perusahan patungan tersebut menggagas sebuah produk anyar yang sebelumnya belum pernah diperdagangkan di Indonesia.  Satu tahun setelah izin operasional didapatkan, Berbagai persiapan segera dilakukan. Mulai dari membeli pabrik, mengimpor mesin dari Jepang, sampai perekrutan 73 orang tenaga kerja. Pada akhirnya Juli 1969 adalah waktunya peresmian, Produknya bernama Super Mie atau bisa disebut Supermi adalah pionir mie instan kemasan pertama mulai diperjualbelikan di pasar Indonesia.  Dengan kapasitas produksi 50 ribu bungkus per-hari, Supermi mulai eksis melanggeng di pasaran, menghadirkan dirinya menjadi pusat perhatian bagi peminat mie pada masanya. Tahun 1970 , Supermi mulai diekspor ke luar negeri. Hal tersebut memberikan gairah baru bagi PT Limasatu , Nikmat dari memonopoli pasar.
